The Wyoming Condominium is a Beaux Arts style building with two wings. The first wing was delivered in 1905, with the second wing delivered in 1911. It was designed by renowned local architect B. Stanley Simmons, for Lester A. Barr. In 1982, Barr’s grandson sold the building for $6.3 million to developers, who converted it to condominiums. The building is composed of 76 units in the South Wing and 30 units in the North Wing.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a contributing property in the Washington Heights Historic District.  It was featured in book, “The Lost Child of Philomena Lee“, as the weekday residence of Philomena Lee’s son, who worked for the Republican National Committee, and his partner. And the lobby was featured in the 1997 Clint Eastwood film “Absolute Power”. Notable past residents include President Dwight Eisenhower, feminist activist and author Betty Friedan and newscaster, TV host and political commentator George Stephanopoulos, and British-American author and journalist Christopher Hitchens. It is one of 162 notable residential buildings in Washington, DC listed under “Best Addresses” in a book written by author and historian James M. Goode.

It is one of the most grand and historic buildings in the city. Amenities include nearby parking, a concierge/doorman, a bike room, a business center, and extra storage is possible in the basement.
